Brother Herman L. Bass, Jr., 330 is first and foremost a Christian. He has belonged to the New Jerusalem Baptist Church for 50 years. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was educated in the Public School System. He joined the Navy in 1961 and served his country faithfully with two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Bro. Bass was married to the late Clara J. Bass. They had three children, two daughters, one son, and two grandchildren.

Brother Bass is presently employed with the U.S. Mint.  Bro. Bass joined Welch Lodge in 1976 under the leadership of Bro. Branch, Worshipful Master. At that time Bro. Cleveland Young was serving as Grand Master, and Sis. Esther Griffen as Grand Worthy Matron.

 

Brother Bass has held various positions in this organization, on all levels in all five houses. 

On the Grand Level:  He has been the Grand High Priest, Grand Junior Warden, Grand Senior Warden, Deputy Grand Master, and the Grand Worshipful Master of the State of Pennsylvania.  He also was the Deputy Potentate of Mecca Grand Temple.

On the National Level:  He has been National Imperial Marshall, National 3 Year Trustee, National Captain of Host, and the National Scribe in the Royal Arch, and today he is serving as the Right Worshipful National Junior Warden.

With all his involvement in the organization he still finds time for his hobbies which is:  fishing, golf, chess, and traveling.
